Description

Dear Veetelers,

Thursday the 7th of march in room 314 (forum), the DiscusCie and the NZV (Dutch Zoötechnical Association) are organising a discussion evening with the topic: laboratory animals.
Laboratory animals have always been a hot topic in scientific, public and political debates. Recent discussions were about the ambition of the Netherlands to be forerunner with respect to animal-free innovation. What could be the consequences for the agricultural- and scientific sector? What experiments are being done in this sector and for what purpose? What are the alternatives?
The DiscusCie and NZV invited two speakers to give us their insights on these matters. The speakers of the night will be Debby Weijers, director of ‘Stichting Proefdiervrij’ (Dutch Society for the Replacement of Animal Testing) and Tineke Coenen, independent lab animal scientist and consultant. Jan van der Valk will be the chairman of the evening. He is the director of the 3Rs-Centre Utrecht Life Sciences at Utrecht University.

The time schedule of the evening will be as follows:

19:00h Reception with coffee and tea
19:30   Introduction
19:40   Presentations
20:30   Break
20:45   Discussion
21:30   Drinks (beer!)

To get an indication on the number of people that will be there, we would like to ask you to put yourself on ‘going’ on the facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/400681534017208/

Kind regards,

The Discuscie
