The Social Eveningcie is a committee that organises theme evenings (the Social Evening) where guest speakers share their knowledge and opinion on a subject with us. After a short break, the students can give their opinion about the subject in a discussion or just listen to other people’s opinions. The discussion is led by one of the members of the Social Eveningcie. The Social Eveningcie aims to reflect on all topics in Animal Science, from livestock to reptiles to pets. Every period we pick a different topic, where we can reflect on and discuss. Until now, most Social Evenings are in Dutch.
An example of a topic we discussed this year was about the image of livestock farming which was drawn by society. This Social Evening reflected on current society views the livestock sector and what can be done to improve this view. With the help of three speakers from different backgrounds the audience left the Social Evening after a good discussion with lots of new knowledge.
If you know an interesting topic for a Social Evening, let us know (firstname.lastname@example.org)! The next Social Evening will take place on January the 21st and will be in Dutch. This Social Evening will be in collaberation with the SGSC and will be about unanaesthetised slaughter. It promises to be a great evening!
See you at the next Social Evening!
