Interested on carrying out placement on a dairy research farm in Ireland?
An exciting opportunity has become available to animal/ food science undergraduates studying in Wageningen University

The student will assist a PhD researcher studying the effects and impact of differing supplementation rates in late lactation on the spring calving dairy cow
The student will assist the researcher in University College Dublin’s Lyons Research farm
The PhD researcher is working under a project called “Nutrigen”, which aims to investigate the interaction between dairy cow genotype and supplementation on cow performance

Research will commence in late August/early September 2018 and finish in December 2018
You will assist the researcher in their day to day duties in a brand new state-of-the-art dairy facility
Duties will include laboratory work such as pooling milk samples, centrifuging blood samples, analysing grass and concentrate constituents as well as taking blood and milk samples outside in the dairy unit

Accommodation can be organised prior to start of placement
Experience with livestock and laboratory work is preferable but not essential
