The Government of Ras al Khaimah (UAE), in collaboration with the Dutch Embassy, is seeking a Master’s student to conduct research on animal welfare systems mapping and analysis in Ras al Khaimah emirate.
The study aims to explore existing structures, policies, and stakeholders related to animal welfare, compare them with Dutch practices, and formulate recommendations for the local authorities in Ras al Khaimah.

Commissioned by the Government of Ras al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates
Key tasks:
- Map and analyze animal welfare systems (pets and industrial animals) in Ras al Khaimah.
- Identify policies, initiatives, and stakeholders at local and federal levels.
- Explore governance mechanisms and propose actionable recommendations.
Candidate profile:
- Master’s student in public policy, environmental studies, animal sciences, or related fields.
- Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills.
- Interest in animal welfare and governance.
- Willingness to stay in the UAE for 4–6 months (2026).
Support provided:
- Visa sponsorship, airfare, insurance, and cost compensation (boarding/travel).
UAE is classified as a yellow area by the Dutch Government due to the geopolitical situation in the region. According to the WUR travel policy “Travel to yellow areas is allowed if your supervisor and the chairholder have granted permission”.
