Hallo allemaal,

Ik ben Reza en ik ben 22 jaar oud. Ik ben geboren en getogen in Ewijk, een dorpje vlak bij Nijmegen. Ewijk is vrij dicht bij Wageningen en met de fiets maar een uurtje. Desondanks heb ik het nog maar een paar gefietst en ga ik vooral met de trien. Ik wist meteen dat ik Dierwetenschappen wou sturen toen ik de varkentjes, lammetjes en kalfjes in de folder op de openlag zag staan.

In maart ben ik begonnen met de master Animal Sciences, nadat ik mijn thesis bij ABG had afgerond over incest management in de Epagnuel. Ik vond dit een heel interessant onderwerp en daarom heb ik in mijn master gekozen voor de specialisatie Biodiversity and Genetics en wil ik mijn thesis wederom bij de Animal Breeding Genomics leerstoelgroep gaan schrijven. Naast mijn studie hou ik van paardrijden, skiën en uit eten gaan met vrienden. Als er nog vragen zijn hoor ik het graag!

Vision Board

• Maintaining the interest of students with an agricultural background or focus and bringing other students in contact with the agricultural sector.
• Maintaining the balance between fun and educational activities in the recruitment folders for potential members to show the added value “De Veetelers” offers compared to a student association.
• Facilitating studying members by reserving rooms for studying and offering coffee and tea.
• Increasing the use of social media to reduce the usage of emails.
• Increasing the approachability of the study association for freshmen by stressing that being a members of the study association comes without obligations, making a connection with the education and possibly setting up a freshmen commission.
• Increasing number of freshmen joining (activities of) the study association and its sub associations by cooperating with the course ‘Introduction Animal Sciences’ (YAS-10306). This makes it possible for sub associations to organize an beginners excursion as part of a course.
• Improving the rigro by:
• Reducing the number of financial documents discussed during the rigro.
• In cooperation with NZV-alumni, inviting PhDs or MSc-students to give a short presentation on their research after the rigro.

Statements by members:

• Statement 1: The vision of the RFS for “De Veetelers” is clear: to support and entertain students enthusiastic about cattle. There should be done more with the demand from companies. The past year the RFS has had her Lustrum and thousands of euros of sponsoring were obtained. This is not the case in other sub-associations not aimed at cattle (PFC e.g.). Therefore, the demand from the workfield should be taken into account more, because this is where the students will work later. Therefore the Study association has to send a strong message to the education team, showing the importance of this demand from companies.
• Statement 2: Internationalising of “De Veetelers” should not go any further.
• Statement 3: “De Veetelers” should support the agricultural side and express this via open days, walk along days, and via social media, as for example with the strikes of 1 October 2019. When you show support however, do this in the appropriate way instead of halfway the day.
• Statement 4: It might be interesting to combine general members meetings from sub-associations in one evening.

Statements by the Board:

• Statement 1: The internationalization of the study and how the Study association adapts to this should be evaluated.
• Statement 2: Improve cleanliness of the Veetelers rooms in both Zodiac and Forum. The Board will keep the rooms clean but all members can contribute to this.
• Statement 3: Usage of the newsletter as promotion material. Committees and sub-associations can also use the newsletter for promoting articles or activities.
• Statement 4: Proposal: decreasing the amount of collections: increasing the usage of the pin machine.
• Statement 5: Proposal: modernizing the usage of ‘W-disk’ for storage of data. By using G suite (Google app) the usage and working for association purposes can be made more flexible.
• Statement 6: Improving the rigro by: Ensuring that at least one of the members of a sub-association, committee and chair group representatives are present during the rigro to improve the quality and knowledge of the rigro. Sub-associations or committees can only unsubscribe with a valid reason.

De studievereniging heeft op de Universiteit twee kamers beschikbaar. De kamers zijn sfeervol ingericht en het bestuur probeert de kamers bij te houden. De ruimtes zijn bedoeld om te vergaderen, tijd te verdrijven of gezellig te kletsen met je mede-Veetelers. In de kamers worden ook diverse documenten opgeslagen en gearchiveerd. Onderverenigingen en commissies hebben hun eigen opslagplank. 'De Veetelers' heeft in twee gebouwen op de campus kamers. Een in 'Forum' en een in 'Zodiac'. 

In het 'Forum' is een Veetelerskamer. Hier bevinden zich diverse opslagplaatsen voor commissies en onderverenigingen, een koffiepas, de grote tafel, drie computers, een printer, de aftekenlijst voor de kamer en een bankstel. De sleutel voor deze kamer kan bij de receptie worden gevraagd, hiervoor heb je je WUR-card nodig. 

In het 'Zodiac', hét gebouw voor Dierwetenschappers, is ook een kamers. In de Zodiac kamer zijn ook drie computers, een koelkast, de aftekenlijst voor de camera's, een koffiepas en een aantal archiefkasten. A 0107 is een vergaderruimte waar vaak de wekelijkse 'Rigro' wordt georganiseerd.
